Conservation & Agricultural Land Easements

The primary goal of conservation & agricultural easements are to preserve the land’s natural, scenic, or agricultural value. This includes protecting wildlife habitats, open spaces, scenic views, and agricultural lands from development or other activities that might compromise these values.

Easements are designed to ensure that conservation values are maintained in perpetuity, meaning the restrictions apply to the land regardless of future ownership.

The Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP)

This program protects the agricultural viability and related conservation values of eligible land by limiting nonagricultural uses which negatively affect agricultural uses and conservation values, protect grazing uses and related conservation values by restoring or conserving eligible grazing land, and protecting and restoring and enhancing wetlands on eligible land.
